Paragraph

If there is a question, What is a Paragraph??? I am sure that most of people have known and understood about it. However, I want to make a reflection for my self after reading the material that my lecturer had given to me.

Paragraph is a group of sentences containing one main idea.  Sometimes people called the main idea as a theme. This main idea reflected in the topic sentence, which clearly declares the subject of the whole paragraph. A topic sentence has a crucial part in a Paragraph. It tells the reader what the paragraph is and what the main idea is. Usually, it is located in the first sentence of a paragraph.  

In addition, a paragraph have a supporting sentence. This sentence gives specific details related to the topic sentence. A supporting sentence which has a function to help  developing  the main idea is located after topic sentence.

Then, a good paragraph has some compenents, that are:

-          - A topic sentence  that is stating the main idea of the paragraph

-          - Supporting sentences which are explaining the main idea by giving some examples, reason, etc.

-          - The coherence and logical thoughts which are developed from one sentence to the next

-          - And the last is a concluding senetnce that provides the main point of the paragraph.

and talking about the types of paragraph, there are many types of paragraph, they are: 

a. Narration

b. Exposition

 c. Definition

d. Description

e. Comparison

But I still confuse how to differenciate each types of paragraph.

i hope in the next meeting while talking about paragraph, I can differenciate it clearly.
